Who is an ideal candidate for Botox?

Anyone who has frown lines, crow’s feet or forehead lines is an ideal candidate for Botox treatment. The FDA has approved Botox for the treatment of serious frown lines between the eyes (glabellar frown lines) for individuals that are between the ages of eighteen and sixty five. Additionally, Botox has also been used off label to treat many other areas of cosmetic concern such as crow’s feet and forehead lines. Although Botox is a safe product, it is important to inform your dermatologist or doctor of any medications you are taking or any medical conditions you may have as certain neurological conditions and blood thinners may prohibit the injection of Botox.

What is a Botox Party? Is it safe?

A "Botox Party" can mean a couple of things. It may refer to a special event such as a lunch or evening where multiple patients and their friends come to a doctor’s office where Botox is offered at a reduced rate. Or, at the worst, a Botox party may be held at a person's house where friends have been invited to have Botox injections performed by a poorly or non trained injector. This is the point when a Botox party is no longer safe. Remember that Botox injections are part of the core training for dermatologists and plastic surgeons. It is preferrable for Botox to be administered by a dermatologist or a plastic surgeon. While it is legal in most states for physician extenders such as physician assistants and nurse practitioners to inject Botox, make sure that they are being closely supervised by dermatologist or plastic surgeon.
