Introducing the DESCRIBE Patch, offered exclusively at Southeastern Dermatology in Knoxville, TN. The DESCRIBE Patch is an accessory paired with Picosure laser tattoo removal for patients seeking faster, less painful tattoo removal.
What is the DESCRIBE Patch?
The DESCRIBE PFD Patch consists of a translucent patch made of silicone which is packaged with a medical grade solution known as perfluorodecalin (PFD). The PFD solution is applied over the tattoo before applying the silicone patch. The DESCRIBE PFD Patch allows multiple, immediate treatments in one visit (up to 4 passes/4 treatments in one visit).
How does the DESCRIBE patch work?
In a conventional tattoo removal session, the laser passes over the tattoo once, targeting the tattoo ink trapped beneath the dermis, then processing through your lymphatic system to remove the color of the ink. After one laser pass, the skin whitens and appears to have bubbles trapped beneath the surface (known as frost), which prevents additional laser passes. After one laser treatment, patients are encouraged to wait at least eight weeks until the next treatment. The conventional tattoo removal process can take months or even years.

The DESCRIBE PFD Patch consists of a silicone patch that protects the top layers of the skin from thermal or heat induced injury, while the PFD solution allows the skin to heal quickly while filling voids and penetrating into porous tissue. This allows multiple passes to be performed in one visit, essentially 4 treatments in one. Most patients feel less discomfort and shorter healing time with the DESCRIBE PFD Patch than with the conventional tattooo removal process.
Where can I get the DESCRIBE Patch?
The DESCRIBE Patch is a prescription and must be administered under the supervision of a physician. The DESCRIBE PFD Patch is available here at Southeastern Dermatology for potentially quicker results and less treatments needed.
