What is Volbella?
Juvéderm Volbella is for use in the lips for lip augmentation for fuller lips and for correction of perioral rhytids, commonly referred to as perioral lines. Volbella is found to increase lip fullness and naturally soften the appearance of lines around the mouth through one year.
Recently approved by the FDA, Volbella is the newest member of the Juvéderm family which includes Voluma, Ultra, and Ultra Plus. The entire Juvéderm family is comprised of hyaluronic acid molecules linked together in a cohesive gel. Hyaluronic acid is something that your body naturally makes and degrades. Volbella is the least cohesive (least viscous) member of the Juvéderm family of fillers and is ideal to be placed superficially in the skin to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles. It is also approved as a lip filler where it provides beautiful, soft, natural looking enhancementto the lip area.
How to get Fuller Lips with Juvéderm Volbella?
Patients are frequently concerned about the pain associated with fillers, especially in the lips. At Southeastern Dermatology we first apply a topical numbing paste. After about 30 minutes a very fine needle or blunt tipped microcannula can be used to place the Vobella in the appropriate locations. It should also be noted that the Vobella comes premixed with a little lidocaine which adds to the comfort of the injections.
Why do we need so many different dermal fillers?
In the past we attempted to use the few fillers we had to correct a wide range of problems. As a cosmetic dermatologist who performs his own injections, it is nice to have fillers with different properties which provides flexibility in treating certain problem areas.
