Tremendous advances have been made in plastic surgery for rejuvenation, but that path isn’t right for everyone. Many women and men throughout the Knoxville area certainly aren’t ready for the downtime, risks, and permanency of surgery. They want to look natural, but with softened frown lines for a more refreshed, youthful appearance. Dr. Matthew Doppelt uses a neuromodulator called Dysport (neuromodulation therapy) to achieve this effect for patients of Southeastern Dermatology.
The Dysport Difference
All wrinkles are not caused by aging or sun damage. Some are simply the result of frowning and squinting – something your probably do thousands of times a day without realizing it.
This treatment method is approved by the FDA for improvement is moderate to severe frown lines. Dysport is effective as a standalone treatment, but may also be used in combination with Botox, dermal fillers, complexion resurfacing, and other therapies as part of a customized plan of rejuvenation.
What Is Dysport?
Dysport is a purified protein which is precisely injected into facial muscles. It blocks signals from nerves that tell muscles to contract. Muscle contractions are temporarily halted, allowing a relaxed, smoother foundation for skin. In Dr. Doppelt’s experienced hands, the look is never fake or frozen – just refined. Untreated muscles continue to function normally, allowing you to smile and look like yourself.
Dysport Treatment
Treatment time varies, but a typical Dysport injection session takes less than an hour. There is virtually now downtime afterward, and you begin to see improvement within a few days. Wrinkles and frown lines continue to soften for up to a month, and results last as long as four months.
Repeated treatments (at least 90 days apart) continue to calm muscles for additional enhancement. Beginning a regimen of neuromodulator treatment in your 20s and 30s, combined with responsible skin care, can actually prevent wrinkles from forming, minimizing the need for more invasive rejuvenation procedures in the future.
Dysport is a prescription drug that can only be administered with the oversight of a doctor. It is safe and effective, but it’s real medicine with possible side effects – not something to be undertaken at a mall kiosk or in a party atmosphere. In some practices patients are treated by a trained injector. At Southeastern Dermatology you get personal care from Dr. Doppelt.
