Tattoo removal is a laser procedure used to remove or lighten unwanted tattoos without scarring. This procedure is preformed at Southeastern Dermatology by our caring, medically trained professionals. At Southeastern Dermatology, we use the state of the art PicoSure laser which delivers ultra-short pulses of energy to shatter tattoo ink which the body then eliminates through the body’s lymphatic system.
Cost Of Laser Tattoo Removal

Getting A Tattoo Removed
Typically, four to six treatments are required to remove a tattoo but could be as few as one or two treatments depending on a number of factors such as size, color, type of ink used, quality, and depth of ink placement.

Your tattoo removal appointments are scheduled four to eight weeks apart, giving time for the pigment to break up in between your treatments. You will notice the colors fading gradually. With the addition on the 532 nanometer wavelength to the PicoSure laser, all tattoo ink colors can successfully be treated. In a published scientific study, 100% of patients obtained greater than 75% clearance after 2 to 4 treatments with the PicoSure laser.
The treatment creates a burning or stinging sensation that can be uncomfortable, but pain can be manages with topical anesthetic if necessary. Our medically trained staff will do everything we can to make the treatment as comfortable for you as possible.
Tattoo Removal Results & Recovery
After the laser tattoo removal treatment, you may feel a minor burning sensation for a few hours. You may also experience some welts, slight redness, bruising, and itching. This can be managed with an ice pack. If blistering occurs, contact our office. After your procedure, our staff will provide you with care instructions that were similar to the instructions you were given after you received your tattoo. Exposure to the sun should be avoid. Sunscreen should be applied.
Is Laser Tattoo Removal Safe?
Laser tattoo removal is non-invasive procedure. It is very safe because it precisely targets the pigments of the tattoo without disturbing the outer layers of skin.
Minimal side effects are temporary. If you have darker skin, there is a slight risk of discoloration or a halo of hyperpigmentation in the treatment area. At your consultation, we evaluate your tattoo and discuss possible laser tattoo removal side effects with you and if you are at risk for these side effects.
