Picosure Focus skin rejuvenation is a type of treatment that helps improve issues such as wrinkles, fine lines, acne scarring, and sun spots. The technology is the same as that of Picosure tattoo removal, but is used at lower settings to treat dermatological issues. Treatments at Southeastern Dermatology can help rejuvenate your appearance and give yourself a more youthful, glowing look.
How Does Picosure Focus Work?
Picosure is an FDA-approved aesthetic laser that utilizes the combination of photothermolysis and intensive photothermal impact to break up pigments in the treatment area with ultra-short pulses. The laser is able to effectively target skin pigmentations while leaving the surrounding area safe and unharmed, causing discoloration to fade.
Pulses are magnified and redistributed in microscopic patterns, inducing an optical breakdown in the skin that also stimulates the production of collagen and elastin. This, in turn, minimizes the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, scarring, and other issues.
Picosure can help to eliminate:
- age spots
- sun spots
- freckles
- pigmentation lesions
- fine lines
- acne scars
- wrinkles
- and more!
Picosure Consultation and Planning
If you believe that Picosure Focus could be an effective solution for your aesthetic issues, reach out today to Southeastern Dermatology and schedule a consultation! Here, we can go over the process as well as develop a plan to ensure the best possible results.
A treatment plan will be discussed during the consultation, as different issues and candidates may require a different number of treatments. Most patients will require a series of 3 or 4 treatments to achieve the best results. Darker and deeper skin issues could potentially require additional treatments. We will be sure to make the entire process clear so as to not surprise you with additional treatments for more difficult solutions. Treatments are generally 2 to 4 weeks apart.
Picosure Results and Recovery
Results for Picosure Focus generally are first visible after 2 to 3 weeks from your initial treatment, and will continue to improve throughout the entirety of the process. More mature skin will generally take a bit longer to show results due to the capabilities of the skin’s regenerative abilities.
Results for fine lines, wrinkles, and similar issues will usually last at least 6 months from the completion of your Picosure Focus treatments. However, results for pigmentation issues can often be permanent!
Recovery for Picosure Focus is essentially immediate. After the procedure you may feel tenderness in the treatment area, and maybe some redness. However, this should go away shortly, and you can resume any normal activities immediately.
Picosure Side Effects
As with most medical and aesthetic procedures, there are some potential risks involved with Picosure Focus. However, these risks are extremely minimized with a reputable practice, which you will certainly find at Southeastern Dermatology.
Risks include:
- swelling
- pinpoint bleeding
- scabbing
- bruising
- blistering
- hypo and hyperpigmentation
- scarring
- infection
With the exception of pigmentation risks, scarring, and infection, most side effects resolve without any intervention. For the three just mentioned, intervention is required but most cases are resolved over time.
